3 Months and some days to go...

It is finally that time, sending out the invitations. After 8 hours of printing, cutting, stamping and assembling with the assistance of Nick and my Mum, they are ready to go to the post office!!!! WOOT WOOT!!! Its exciting watching little by little come together now, such a long road to get here :)

We have been starting to work through all the little details and attending some of the finalizing appointments. We also Met with our florist this week for the first time, we are super excited to see what ideas she comes up with Monday after spending 2 hours with her.

We are getting more and more excited for the biggest day of our lives to approach and to spend it with our closest family and friends by our side.

Wedding Party...

Bridesmaids

Heather Phillips - Maid of Honor (Friend of the Bride)

Heather and I have been friends for over 12 years!!! We met at the good ol' Dollar Video and LA Tan days back in high school. Heather and I have been through thick and thin of life and man drama. We have always known how to take any situation and turn it around to the moment of our lives! From 3 am taco bell runs, concerts in the city, playing on indoor soccer teams together, cruising over pure boredem, getting under aged tattoos, and working our bags skills at Finn's to getting mad crafty and painting our OWN Dave Matthews Band tees for crowds to get jealous over, we have done it all side by side. And now that I am about to make one of the hugest steps in my life, I couldn't imagine doing it with out my best friend by my side at the aisle!

Emily Weber - Bridesmaid (Sister of the Bride)

25 years ago I was no longer an only child thanks to this woman. But she is the best sidekick I could have ever received. Through childhood torture (hehe) and crazy teen years together her and I have such a fun and confiding relationship! She has always been so protective of me with anyone that stood in the way of my happiness, and when she heard Nick and I were getting married she felt he could fill the shoes of her duty. She still reminds me each time we are together, how life couldn't be any better with out my sister at my side. She has shown me how no matter what life brings our way, we can always depend on eachother to get through it.

Meagan Benzo - Bridesmaid (Sister of the Groom)

Meagan is Nicks younger sister, Lil' Dawg. We have known eachother 5 years now, and I couldn't be any happier to have such an amazing sister-in-law thats so fun and full of life. We have seen eachother through so many life changes over the course of 5 years, and through thick and thin as well. She has helped me understand the Nick psychology from the very beginning since I first mentioned words "I'm dating your older brother." I really look forward to gaining another sister!

Erin McIntosh - Bridesmaid (Cousin of the Bride)

Erin is my cousin on my moms side of the family. If there were one person I shared so much in common with, it would be her. Musical talent, craftiness, passion for photography and music, love for animals, school, etc. We too have shared plenty of fun memories from running around on summer nights playing Michael Myers Halloween victims to building tents and playing barbies in her basement with Scotts G.I. Joe dolls. We have watched each other grow up and become who we are today over the course of 28 years and all the roads we took to get there, and now I am so happy for her to be there through my next biggest life event, marriage.

Baily Weber - Flower Girl (Bride's Niece)

Baily 'Boo Bear' is my niece (Emily's daughter), she has truthfully changed the past 5 1/2 years of my life, such a little miracle and not to mention strong diva. As she is still learning what her big role in our wedding is all about, she is mostly enjoying the festivities that have come along with this big day. From trying on our dresses together to looking at invitation samples and trying cakes. We page through wedding magazines together (she claims the dress I got her will be the one she gets married in, too cute), pick on uncle Nick non-stop, and loooooove baking/cooking together. Everything and anything Nick or I do she just wants to be involved in every second of it. This big girl is ready to take on the aisle as Flower Girl (with "sparkly slippers").

Groomsmen

Peter Yurgaitis - Best Man (Friend of the Groom)

Nick has been best friends with Pete for over 14 years, they lived next door to each other and met over a game of hockey. From being neighbors to best friends, room mates to eachothers best men, and from being states away, they have always remained best friends a brother neither of them had. When Nick made the call to tell him he was getting married he didn't even have to ask him to be his best man, he just knew.

David Danielson - Groomsmen (Friend of the Groom)

Nick and Dave have been friends for almost 10 years now. They worked at the first dealership Nick worked at in Virginia, sharing a similar background. So many common interests caused these two to become roommates right away. After living together for over 4 years out of state, all of the holidays and special occasions were spent together making eachother feel like family. And although they live states away as well, they have continued to remain just as close.

Dennis Phillips - Groomsmen (Friend of the Groom)

Nick and Denny have become close friends over the past year of being back in Illinois. They actually met 5 years ago when Heather and Sarah first started dating them in the same month. Denny and Nick are always ready to tare something apart, cars, ect and put them back together, their latest jobs are their Jeeps. Put the two together and you never know what the night holds; ice sledding, 2 am bonfires, etc...

Generations of love...

Today Nick and I attended our marriage workshop at the church we are getting married at, Long Grove Community Church. Basically you spend all day with several other couples who are either getting married as well or who are already married and learn about how to successfully lead a healthy christian  married life. We gained a lot of insight on the strengths and weaknesses we tend to bring into marriage but at the same time the assets and liabilities we bring with us from our upbringings. Our instructor was very informative with tying in marriage and spirituality, he made many good points and had Nick and I on the edge of chairs. We even dug deeper as to what different upbringings we have witnessed through out time. It was quite interesting to hear every ones opinions and experiences.
Aside from our history, the instructor taught us about the Greek way of Agape love (divine love), Eros (physical love), Philios love (mutual love) - how to choose words wisely, reflect it in our attitudes, and reflect it in our actions. I know this all doesn't seem like much, but we truly learned more than we could begin to write a small blog about. Needless to say Nick and I were the only ones that stayed afterwards to speak with the instructor about all the thoughts and curiosities we had. It was truly a fulfilling day for the two of us, we couldn't stop talking about it for quite some time.

I thought that today kind of set the tone for the pictures I posted... This is just a few pictures my grandma and I dug up of our family and their weddings through out time. Unfortunately a few of the oldest photos such as the one at the top right for example didn't have the dates printed on them, I would love to know when some of these were taken, the era... The neat thing though is they each have a Chicago photography company imprinted on their holders which I plan to do research on (Since most of you know my passion for photography). Anyway, my grandma lent them to me since she knew I was very intrigued by our families history and the photographs themself, so I am in the process of copying a large box full right now for myself of many generations through out our families history.

*Soon to be posted our wedding party, need to know locations for our BIG DAY, and some hot spots for our out of towners :) Stay tuned....

Wedding Checklist Fun....

So we are officially 7 months 1 day 19 hours and 46 minutes away from our wedding day as of today (not like we are counting down the days or anything ;) ). We had a pretty productive Saturday this weekend!!! Nick and I made a trip out to Dalzell & Co. in Crystal Lake and officially ordered my matching wedding band from Tacori, I couldn't be happier its just so beautiful and so REAL now:) I think we both had that giddy look in our eyes, the giddy look where its really happening and we can't wait to be married already and spend the rest of our lives together!!! Nick also had a chance to browse the men's wedding bands and found three he really liked so we ordered samples for him to try when my ring comes in, so we think we may have found his too!!! Such an exciting moment for the two of us.

After some ring shopping Nick and I decided to continue on with the wedding mood we were in and went over to Woodfield. There we were window shopping/trying on Nicks possible wedding day apparel, he wasn't crazy about it at first but as it went on he was having a blast with all the options he had!!! Needless to say we ended up finding his wedding day outfit, he looked sooooo handsome! Afterwards, we went out for some Chinese and celebrated knocking some huge stuff off our to do list over Sake.

Other than that, we have just been working through some of the little details, and preparing for our full day marriage work shop at the church this month, which we have had fun with all the prior homework we have been filling out together for it. After 5 years of being together we still continue learning new things about one another, our marriage workshop has proven that point. :) Aside from that we are just waiting for this month of craziness to come to an end. We figured a semi wedding free month due to me being out of town for two weeks for training and the possibility of moving was just a lot to digest in addition to the wedding. Once I get back the wedding festivities remain back in full speed! :)

Soon to come our fabulous wedding party;)
